You frown as you sit on the wall, waiting to see if Francis would show up today. You havent seen him in a while as his owner had gone away for a few weeks, taking Francis with him. You hadnt seen him for a few weeks before that, either, but you knew he would be back soon, his owner mentioned something about only going for three weeks, which is why you had decided to wait today.
You roll your eyes when you eventually see France come prancing out of his house, fur dazzlingly white and long. He walks with his head held up high as if he doesnt have a care in the world, which, most of the time, it seems he doesnt.
Francis, you howl loud enough for him to hear you.
He looks up and, when he spots you, he grins. Before he joins you, however, he seizes a rose from one of rose bushes in his mouth. Hopping up onto the wall next to you, he lays the flower by your paws and winks, Bonjour, ma chère! A fleur for mon fleur. How have you been, ________? Its been a while, I was starting to worry before I went away.
You knock the rose off of the wall with a single flick of your (fur colour) tail. Francis frowns, detecting that something is wrong.
Hello, Francis, you say.
He smiles again, trying to change the subject and cheer you up. Leaning towards you, he rubs his face against yours gently, Oh, ________, you would have loved (destination), it was tres magnifique, just like you. I have so much to tell you-
Francis, I need you to come with me. Now, you interrupt, pushing him away from you.
B-but, ma chère, I was going to tell you all about-
You dont really give him much of a choice as you grab him by the tail and pull him down with you, him howling slightly.
You trot away and he follows behind you for a moment before catching up, H-have I done something, ________?
Oh, yeah, youve done something, alright. Youve done a big something. Now, youre going to keep quiet and listen to me or else, you warn him, making your way down a nearby alleyway. Francis grimaces as you lead him past the mud, not keen on dirtying his paws.
Stupid fancy house cat, you think you yourself, walking right through the dry mud until you got to a gap in the fence. Weaving through the branches on the other side, you get to a garage. Taking a seat by the open door, you wait for Francis to catch up again. He had been very careful not to get any twigs or leaves in his fur.
What are we doing here, ma chère?
Francis, you never told me you were going away. I heard it from your owner, you say.
He laughs nervously, Uh, well, ________, are you sure I didnt say?
No, you didnt, which is why you didnt get to find out about this. In you go. You nod at the door. He curiously pokes his head around the door and goes inside, you following him this time. You nod at a box in the corner of the garage and say, In there.
He walks over to it and puts his front paws up so he can look inside. As soon as he does his eyes widen.
_-________... Are they-
Yes, you say instantly, leaping into the box with the four tiny kittens.
Im a papa?!
Do you know how hard its been trying to find food? You could have at least told me you were leaving, you say.
But, ma chère, why didnt you tell me-
Youre going to make this right, Francis. Youre their father, you say, ignoring him.
He hops into the big box next to you and licks your nose lovingly. You smile gently, unable to help it. He grins, Right, but of course! Which is why you will all come and live in my house, oui?
You narrow your eyes at him,
Oui! Of course you will! Come on, grab the kittens and lets go. Ill get two and you get the other two, he says. He goes to pick up two of the kittens but he pauses,
are you sure theyre mine?
Offended by how he could even assume they might be some cat elses, you pick up one of the kittens by the scruff of the neck, giving him a very unimpressed expression. His fur is pure white and starting to get quite long. He winks at Francis.
ah. I see
